Please make note of any questions or additional concerns that may arise as you respond to this section. Your Manager will be glad to provide relevant information to assist you as you progress in your on-the-job learning process.

 Complete your Worldwide
Business Standards Training and other mandatory compliance training programs as applicable.
The Worldwide Business Standards define the values and responsibilities that apply to us as TSMs of Henry Schein.  You will start to receive e-mails within your first month of employment, prompting you to complete a mandatory web-based training program on these Standards.
Based on observations and your assessment, identify your own (and your team’s if applicable) training needs and discuss them with your manager. Henry Schein encourages all TSMs to obtain the training they need to effectively perform their jobs and help to develop the TSMs who work for them.
  • Speak to your manager about your development goals.
  • Your Human Resources Representative and your Manager are happy to assist you with the available options and resources.
  • Visit HSNZ Intranet called ‘The Hub’ and ‘Working here’ then ‘Development’ to access a copy of our Career and Development Template and other resources.
Complete your Career and Development TemplateHenry Schein encourages TSMs to take ownership of their career and development goals – start to write your own goals in here and share them with your manager.

Continue meeting with your Manager on a mutually agreed upon schedule to obtain performance feedback.  Discuss your accomplishments and any challenges you are encountering in meeting your performance objectives. Determine what you need to accomplish in your position. Reflect on your own performance and be willing to share it with your manager:

  • What are you most proud of achieving over the last quarter?
  • Is there anything that you have been unable to achieve, and if so why?
  • How do you feel you are currently performing in relation to your current role and objectives?
  • Looking ahead to achieving your remaining KPIs, what are your biggest concern?
  • What will success look like to you?
  • Do you have the necessary skills/tools/support to complete these objectives?
  • Which Act it Live it values / examples of living the values are you most proud of
  • Are there any of the behaviours in the Act it Live it values that you are finding hard to demonstrate and role model?
Continue meeting with key TSMs that you will be interacting with. Seek out and establish support systems. (e.g., identify TSMs who can help you. Embrace them as sounding boards for new ideas, direction, or guidance.) Be visible and approach others with suggestions for help or to seek their guidance.
  •  Spend some time informally with others so you get to know your colleagues on a personal as well as professional level. Establishing good support systems will enable you to better navigate through the organisation.
If you have direct reports, continue meeting with them and ensure that they have access to you.

During your meetings, discuss their roles, accomplishments, strengths, opportunities for improvements, and their future career interests.

This is also a good time to start evaluating the progress of performance objectives or to make any changes in objectives.

  •  Review established performance objectives for each of your direct reports. Modify or expand them as necessary.
Help us recruit new TSMs! Think about business acquaintances or friends who may be a good fit for current or future career opportunities at Henry Schein. We offer cash rewards to eligible TSMs when their referrals are hired.
  •  View Internal Job Vacancies via our weekly career opportunities email, NZ Vacancies sent out from your HR Rep or keep an eye on our careers page here: https://www.henryschein.co.nz/careers
Focus on your productivity and getting your work done!Be clear on what your Internal and External Customers, Peers, Manager, and Direct Reports (if applicable) are expecting of you. Deliver on commitments made.

Review your onboarding experience and think about what is working well, and what could improve.
