Your First 30 Days at Henry Schein NZ
In order to help you make a smooth transition to your new surroundings, we have developed some guidelines for your reference during your first few months at work. Please feel free to contact your Manager or Human Resources should you require further clarification in any of these areas. You will have access to the below links once you start with HSNZ.
Did your two week induction include all the people you wanted to meet? Discuss with your Manager whom it would be helpful for you to have an induction meeting within your Department and, if applicable, whom you should meet with outside of your Department. | It’s important to listen, observe, and ask questions to enhance your knowledge of your position and the organization. Meet with and observe as many different people and situations as possible. |

Review your IT access and ensure you have access to the relevant ZOHO Apps in your role (Ask your manager if you are unclear). ZOHO is an online platform used by most parts of our business. | ZOHO is a CRM however also runs many other applications such as our intranet, surveys, project management etc. The purpose of a CRM is to collect all key touch points with our customers into a central location. These touch points are not only related to receiving an order - they are about recording activities and interactions relating to our customers. |

Learn “Who’s Who” among your Management Team and the Departments and teams within HSNZ. Understand their roles and responsibilities in the organisation. | Knowing your Management Team and team structure is important because it helps you understand how your role impacts HSNZ. It will also help you know who to seek out when you have work questions or business issues. |

Get to know your fellow TSMs by participating in Team Meetings and informal meetings (e.g., lunch, etc.). | TSMs are an important resource because they have Henry Schein experience and know the “ins and outs” of the Department. Ask questions, listen, and observe. Take this time to understand the work environment and culture. |

Work on building strong connections and relationships within the organisation. Enlist the help of others as needed. For example, attend relevant business meetings, volunteer to participate in Community HSCares activities etc | Familiarise yourself with our Values. The culture of Henry Schein flourishes on the mutual respect that TSMs have for one another. Building good relationships with other TSMs helps you get to know your colleagues and enhances your ability to more quickly acclimate to your new job and the Company. |

Familiarise yourself with our Performance Approach – how we set performance goals and review them. | Reviewing our Performance Appraisal process will help you understand what the critical performance factors are — and what you will be evaluated on throughout the year. The purpose of this process is to ensure that:

Schedule regular meetings with your Manager, as appropriate, to set and/or review the performance management process, your performance goals and expectations | Understanding your performance goals and aligning your work priorities with your Manager’s expectations are critical for your success. Use these meetings to define your role and responsibility; develop your relationship with your Manager and learn about his/her management style (e.g., preferred method of receiving updates — e-mail or verbal; daily or weekly, etc.) |

Complete Departmental Training Programs. Review our Online Learning Platform called Scheinify. | Some jobs may have formal or on-the-job training programs that you are required to complete. This will vary based on the level and type of position you are in. If applicable, actively participate in training. Listen, take notes, and ask questions! |

Complete your Worldwide Business Standards Training and other mandatory compliance training programs as applicable | The Worldwide Business Standards define the values and responsibilities that apply to us as representatives and leaders of Henry Schein |

Familiarize yourself with ADP – the platform in which you can keep your details up to date, access payslips and submit requests for leave. | You will have access to validate personal information, and review the portal so that you know how to submit a leave request when you need to. You can also update your contact details and access payslip history. |

If you have direct reports, schedule one-on-one meetings with each TSM. | These meetings are important to learn each TSM’s role, and will help you assess his/her strengths, accomplishments, and future career interests. It’s essential to establish a relationship and open communication from the beginning. Don’t forget, your team is also going through a big change as they try to learn your management style and expectations. |

Continue exploring the Henry Schein Intranet called ‘The Hub’. Begin to explore the Henry Schein Corporate Website. | The Henry Schein Intranet and the HS Corporate Website has a wealth of important information about the Company. Whether you are interested in learning about the Company’s profile, performance, or our Community Services programs, it is an excellent resource to gather information. |

Become familiar with our HSNZ Website and products, also termed Webshop | Within our HSNZ website you will learn more about our products, catalogues and more. Speak to your manager about key products or areas of the website you should focus on first. | |
Become familiar with our practices and procedures. | In particular, you should visit the Hub to familiarise yourself with our policies, procedures, and other important information. |

Review the Benefits available at HSNZ. | Your Human Resources Representative will walk you through key benefits, these are refreshed occasionally and all information held on the Hub |

Review our COVID-19 protocols and practices, so that you are aware of our practices. | Understand the health and safety and Work From Home practices the business will take to ensure we maintain healthy business operations throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Our goal with these is to promote healthy work practices and reduce transmission amongst TSMs if contact with COVID-19 is made |

Review all of the communication channels used at HSNZ if we are Working From Home. | So many means of communication these days means we need to be purposeful with how we use them, this is a guide only, personal preference is important, to the ways we can interact when our normal face to face interaction is disrupted. |
